22/02/10 PYB Paddlesport Expedition Symposium
The weekend of the 20-21 Feburary saw the above event take place at Plas y Brennin National Mountain centre. Despite the very cold weather and good dump of snow on the Saturday night the attendance figures were good. Sessions were delivered covering a variety of topics including, trip planning, equipment, funding and sponsorship. There were also a number of practical workshops on hand looking at portaging, expedition cooking, expedition first aid and using gps. Voyageur Coaching was tasked with providing a number of sessions of bushcraft for paddlers. All of our sessions were filled and in most cases over filled, with feedback all being positive and coments on how useful the sessions had been. We covered selection and use of tools, tarps, cooking on fires and fire lighting. All of this and some freshly baked bread and cakes for those attending. Thankyou to all those that attended and to Pete Caterall for inviting us. You can see some photos from the event on our Facebook page. See you on the water...

31/01/10 Snow for Assessment
This weekend saw a number people attend their 4 star canoe leader assessment with Voyageur. As usual the weather proved interesting and gave both cold and snow conditions, but again a definite lack of wind. The first day was spent on Bala in stunning conditions, and then on day two we were joined by Dave Luke as the second assessor and enjoyed the stretch from the Horseshoe falls down to JJ's. 26/01/10 Great Time Had on 4 Star Training
23-24 January Voyageur delivered a 4 Star Canoe Leader Training in North Wales. The first day was spent on Bala which saw the day conclude with a night paddle. Weather was fantastic, but lacked any wind. The group explored various leadership opportunities, sailing/rafting rigs and even engaged in some tandem poling. Day two we visited the River Dee at Llangollen and used the section from the Serpents Tail down to JJ's site. Again lots of opportunities for looking at leadership, some personal skills and a session on trsditional skills. Feedback from the group was all very possitive and we are looking forward to the next course. You can take a look at the photos from the weekend at our Facebook page. Many thanks to all of you that attended and supported us.
