DM River Safety Day
Voyageur Coaching has joined forces with Desperate Measures to bring you this one day workshop. Rather than being over specialised or site specific, it has been designed to tackle general safety in and around moving water. It is highly recommended whether you are new to the sport, or a seasoned pro, or for that matter, even if you prefer to watch from the bank!
The overall aim of the workshop is to introduce basic safety and rescue techniques and principals that could prove to be invaluable next time you are near a river or open water. As well as looking at some of the most common incidents, we will deal with how to avoid them in the first place, and, how to make the best use of the equipment that you have available at the time.

• Simple Hydrology
• Self rescue and safe swimming
• Bank based rescue techniques
• Use of Throw lines
• Safe use of chest harnesses
• Scenarios
• Any specific needs

What about me ...
• It doesn't matter if you're new to the sport or you're an aspiring olympic athlete. The day has been been designed with water safety in mind and we are confident that it will be valuable regardless of your previous experience.
• This is a practical workshop. We won't spend much time in the classroom, and most of the day will be based in or around the river so you will need appropriate clothing. If you have any concerns, or want to check that your kit will be suitable, please contact Voyager Coaching or Desperate Measures.
